Turning Bristol blue for St Peter's Hospice
Bristol charity St Peter's Hospice is calling on people across Bristol to turn the city blue this October as it launches a brand new fundraising campaign encouraging communities to come together in support of the city’s only adult hospice.
The charity is inviting schools, businesses, community groups, families and individuals to take part in ‘Wear It Blue’ during Hospice Care Week which is taking place this year on 5–11 October.
People can get involved by dressing in blue, hosting a fundraising event and helping raise awareness of the vital care St Peter's Hospice provides to local adults living with life-limiting illness and their families.
Whether it's a workplace dress-down day, a blue-themed bake sale, a school non-uniform day, afternoon tea, colour run or something completely unique, supporters are encouraged to choose a date during Hospice Care Week – or another date that suits them – and get creative while raising money for vital local hospice care.
As part of the campaign, St Peter's Hospice is also encouraging people to visit its network of charity shops, where they can pick up affordable blue clothing, accessories and hidden treasures ready for the week. Every purchase helps raise additional funds, making it even easier to support the hospice while finding the perfect outfit.
Hayley Ali, Events Fundraising Manager at St Peter's Hospice, said: "We're really excited to be launching our brand-new campaign, Wear It Blue. It's a simple and fun way for people of all ages and abilities to get involved and celebrate Hospice Care Week.
"Every supporter, school, workplace or shop that goes blue will be helping raise vital funds while also spreading awareness of hospice care across our city during an important week. We can't wait to see the creative things our community comes up with to support the campaign."
Anyone taking part can download a free fundraising pack filled with ideas and resources, including posters, bunting, cake decorations and fundraising tips to help make their event a success.
Every pound raised will help St Peter's Hospice continue providing expert care and support to adults with life-limiting illnesses across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, as well as helping their families through some of life's most difficult moments.
St Peter’s Hospice receives only 20% of its funding through the government, with the rest made up of funds from fundraising events, generous donations and its retail shops. It costs around £30,000 a day to run the Hospice.
