The Temperance House open for business

A new business suite has opened in North Somerset following an extensive refurbishment project which has seen a Grade II listed former pub transformed.

The Temperance House, which is also home to award-winning Bristol business StudioHIVE, is a high-end business retreat with professional meeting spaces available for hire.

The former Battleaxes pub in Wraxall had been closed since 2019 before property developers and architects StudioHIVE took it on and repurposed the space into a business centre, several professional meeting rooms, a games room and kitchen and outdoor space suitable for break out activities.

Corporate bookings are now being taken with several Bristol businesses already signed up to use the space.

Further plans for the site are in motion with overnight accommodation due to open in Autumn 2026. The six luxury boutique-style rooms are currently under construction and will be available for executive stays or anyone wanting to enjoy the North Somerset countryside.

Jason Collard, managing director of StudioHIVE, said: “Our team has settled into our new home at The Temperance House and we’re now delighted to open the doors of the business suite to the wider community.

“The space is stunning, with contemporary styling and thoughtfully designed rooms to suit all business needs from small breakout discussions to larger corporate gatherings.

“The location is also perfect, nestled in the tranquil countryside but still only minutes from the city centre. It provides the perfect backdrop for away days, retreats, annual reviews or day-to-day business meetings.

“The future is looking bright for The Temperance House, we’re only partway through our regeneration plans, and we look forward to seeing the next phases unfold.”

An onsite café and new homes have also been approved by North Somerset Council with the support of Wraxall & Failand Parish Council.

StudioHIVE and StudioHIVE Architects are involved in several of the South West’s most high-profile projects, including the creation of new offices, homes and student accommodation at the Silverthorne Lane urban regeneration project in Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone and the development of the Weston-super-Mare RFC site.
