Flipping great pancakes at Deer Park

Residents at Deer Park Nursing Home in Holsworthy, Devon, really entered into the spirit of the day when they held their inaugural pancake race on Shrove Tuesday.

Activities coordinator Alyce Barber said: "This was our first-ever pancake race and we had a great time!

"Residents were flipping their pancakes as they were pushed down the corridor in wheelchairs. The race took the form of a time-trial, with a yummy chocolate prize for the winner.

"Andy O'Brien won the race, covering the length of the corridor in an impressive time of 12.5 seconds. He was very pleased with his achievement.

"Afterwards we rang the changes by offering some delicious savoury pancakes for supper. The salmon and cream cheese ones were very popular!"

Deer Park Nursing Home is run by award-winning dementia care provider Camelot Care and has capacity for up to 25 residents requiring residential or nursing care. The experience of staff and skill mix enables care of service users with complex diagnoses of dementia.
