‘Colour and Coast’ at Durlston Country Park

‘Colour and Coast’ at Durlston Country Park

From Tuesday 21st July until Tuesday 4th August, Durlston Country Park will be hosting an exploration of colour through Shelley Perry’s ‘Colour and Coast’ exhibition, in their Fine Foundation Gallery. Painting with her hands, local artist Shelley creates Dorset coastal scenes alongside colour studies inviting viewers to consider colour as both subject and landscape. The exhibition will be open daily from 10.30am – 4.30pm and is free to enter.

Shelley Perry is a passionate landscape painter known for her vibrant, expressive depictions of the stunning coastline. Drawing inspiration from the places she has lived and explored with her family, she captures the beauty and essence of diverse landscapes with bold, often neon colours and dynamic energy. Shelley paints entirely with her hands, using no brushes in her process resulting in work that is richly textured, expressive and captures the essence of the landscape in a fresh and uplifting way.

Inspired by the richness and variety of colour in natural landscapes the ‘Colour and Coast exhibition will highlight Shelley’s unique process inspiring visitors to explore colour itself and embrace the discovery of new, unexpected mark-making that enhances the raw energy of her landscapes. This ongoing exploration reflects Shelley’s belief in art as a process of letting go and being present.

Shelley will also be hosting workshops during her exhibition, including a ‘Colour and Coast Minis’ Family drop in on Sunday 26th July and a ‘Hand painting landscape’ workshop on Thursday 30th July. For more information and to book please visit www.durlston.co.uk/events

Shannon Dugdale, from Durlston Country Park said, “We are very excited to welcome Shelley’s exhibition into the Fine Foundation Gallery. Her unique approach and style creates such striking pieces that visitors will certainly enjoy.”

The exhibition is open daily from 10.30-4.30pm.
