StudioHIVE Architects’ Ade Olaosebikan Selected for Prestigious RSA Annual Exhibition with Bold Architectural Drawing
Ade Olaosebikan, a Nigerian-born British artist and architect based at StudioHIVE Architects in Bristol, has been selected to exhibit at the Annual Exhibition of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture (RSA) this year.
Ade’s featured piece, Reconstituted Planes – Villa Savoye 002, will appear in the Open Architecture Exhibition, showcasing alongside other emerging and established voices in architectural practice. He is one of only a handful of Bristol-based creatives selected for this year’s show.
Exploring the intersection of architectural design and fine art, Ade’s work is inspired by the Constructivist movements: El Lissitzky’s Proun series, and Theo van Doesburg’s De Stijl. His current body of work reinterprets iconic architectural buildings through an abstract lens, transforming them into artistic reinterpretations of space.
In Reconstituted Planes – Villa Savoye 002, Ade reimagines Le Corbusier’s modernist masterpiece through the extrusion and layering of its first-floor plan, transforming it into a dynamic abstraction.
“I was thrilled to find out that my drawing had been selected for The Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture’s 199th Annual Exhibition,” Ade said.
“I’m passionate about the spaces we inhabit and, in both my design work and drawing practice, I’m constantly looking to explore how focusing on our lived experience of spaces can deepen our understanding of place and form.”
The RSA Annual Exhibition remains a cornerstone of Scotland’s cultural calendar. Now in its 199th year, the exhibition provides a platform for contemporary painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, photography and installation, alongside work by some of the country's leading architects.
The exhibition runs from 3 May to 8 June 2025 at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh, with free entry and opening hours Monday to Saturday 10am–5pm, Sunday 12–5pm
