Padel power for St Peter's Hospice
Bristol business people are being invited to join an exciting charity tournament for one of the UK’s fastest growing sports – padel.
After a successful launch last year, the Bristol Business Padel Tournament returns on Thursday 10 July with an afternoon of friendly competition to raise money for Bristol’s only adult hospice.
Aimed at businesses in the city, the event is planned as a fun way for attendees to network, make connections and socialise with colleagues.
Ben Lee, Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “Padel is such a great sport to get involved in, and we had great success with our first tournament last year so we’ve brought it back for 2025.
“Imagine the exciting pace of squash with the scoring system of tennis. We play in doubles on a closed court and it’s open to everyone, whether you’ve played before or you’re new to the sport. After the tournament, participants can enjoy a pizza and a drink.
“Although we’re pitching at businesses to join in for networking and team bonding, anyone over the age of 16 can sign up.
“Events like this and the support from the Bristol community which comes as a result, is essential to St Peter’s Hospice and being able to continue the work we do supporting patients and their families through hard times.
“This will be a fantastic way to get active and get to know others whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.”
St Peter’s Hospice supports patients in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, providing inpatient care as well as community care to those with life-limiting illnesses. It costs £30,000 to run the Hospice every day and the charity relies on money raised through fundraising, its shops and Gifts in Wills to continue its work.
Sign up with a group of colleagues and friends or sign up solo and St Peter’s Hospice will find a padel partner for you to team up with.
Tickets cost £35 and includes a racket, ball and court hire. The tournament will take place at Rocket Padel in St Anne’s Park, BS4 from 2.30pm-5pm.
