Charity walkers benefit from gifted transport at annual Mendip Challenge
Much-loved local charity Weston Hospicecare held its annual Mendip Challenge on Sunday 1 June and local business Bakers Dolphin once again provided transport for charity walkers.
Hundreds of fundraisers took part in the flagship event in aid of the charity, which provides palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses in and around Weston-super-Mare.
South West coach operator Bakers Dolphin provided six coaches to assist with the running of the day and transported walkers to starting points in Wells and Cheddar before they began their trek back to the finish line at Weston Cricket Club.
The challenge consisted of four possible routes across the Mendips, covering a variety of different distances depending upon walkers’ abilities – 5 miles, 10 miles, 20 miles and 30 miles.
The charity has since reported it raised a whopping £78,000 and counting to continue supporting its patients.
Bakers Dolphin Sales and Marketing Director, Amanda Harrington, said: “We are proud to have supported the Mendip Challenge once again, as we have for the past several years.
“It is one of Weston Hospicecare’s landmark events and it raises incredible funds for this amazing local charity, which supports people in their time of need.
“As a Weston-super-Mare business, Weston Hospicecare has a special place in our hearts and we’re pleased to be a part of this annual challenge.”
