The Reindeer Run is back following a successful first year
Bristol children are being asked to dash, dance, prance or walk as part of the St Peter's Hospice Reindeer Run, which is back for its second year.
The fun festive fundraiser launched for the first time in 2025 and raised over £5,800 for Bristol's much-loved Hospice.
Schools, children's community groups, Scouting groups and after-school clubs will take control of their fundraising and design their own antlers before taking part in a run, jog or walk with their friends in November or December.
Meg Austin, Community Fundraising Officer at St Peter's Hospice, said: "We're delighted that the Reindeer Run was such a success last year and we can bring it back again this Christmas!
"I think the reason it was so popular with schools and groups is that it was created with flexibility in mind. Classes can pick the date they want to complete their challenge, raise as much as they can and choose the distance they cover."
The sponsored Reindeer Run will raise money to help support adults with life-limiting illnesses in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, who are cared for by the Hospice. Children will be encouraged to collect small donations from family and friends, just £1 or £2 each, or whatever they can manage.
Meg continued: “This is a really easy and fun fundraiser to get involved with. We provide all the resources organisers need meaning there's no stress and more time to don those antlers and enjoy the festive activity.
"We're really hoping this event grows year on year and becomes a favourite on the calendar for many children. It’s a magical way for children to celebrate with their friends, while also raising money that will make a real difference to families across our community. We can’t wait to see the herds of reindeer taking to playgrounds, parks and fields this winter!”
The free downloadable fundraising pack includes guidance for teachers, printable antler templates, a fundraising tracker for the children and festive resources to bring the event to life.
Children who take part in Reindeer Run are also invited to design their own reindeer with a chance of their drawing being featured in next year’s postcards and designs.
St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult hospice. All care at St Peter’s Hospice is provided free of charge but the charity relies on gifts in wills, donations, fundraising and money raised through its retail shops to deliver its
services. It costs around £30,000 to run the Hospice for a day.
