St Peter's Hospice opens two new stores in Mangotsfield and Emersons Green
Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice has opened two new shops in Mangotsfield and Emersons Green this October.
The charity retail stores will stock everything from pre-loved clothing and accessories, to toys, books and homeware, with the income raised going towards supporting patients cared for by Bristol’s only adult hospice.
The Emersons Green store is conveniently located on Emersons Way just behind Emersons Retail Park, a few steps away from local cafes and supermarkets.
The store features a donation station making it easy for local people to drop off their pre-loved items ready to find a place in a new home.
This opening was closely followed by the launch of the all-new Superstore in Mangotsfield. This store has a larger footprint than the usual high street shops and stocks white goods, electricals and furniture as well as fashion and home accessories.
Located on Richmond Road, it is the fourth Superstore opened by the charity following the success of the larger stores in Portishead, Abbey Wood and the Clifton Triangle.
Managers are looking for volunteers to join both locations with a variety of roles available including sorting donations and working on the tills.
John Broomhead, Retail Director at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to bring not one but two new stores to the local area. Each has a slightly different offering but both have the same goal – helping to fund free Hospice care for people in the community who need us.
“Pre-loved shopping is a brilliant way to find something special while making a positive difference. Our charity shops are full of hidden gems and unexpected finds you simply wouldn’t see on the high street. By choosing pre-loved, shoppers can give quality items a second life, helping to reduce waste and make more sustainable choices - while also supporting our charity’s work in making sure our patients have access to the best possible end-of-life care.”
The new-concept superstore was first launched by the charity in 2024 as a way to stock larger, household items which were in demand by customers. The charity also runs a free collection service, which allows people to donate large items easier, as well as a delivery service.
St Peter’s Hospice cares for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. Funds raised through the charity’s 45 retail outlets go towards providing care to patients and their families. It costs around £30,000 a day to run the Hospice so every donation and every purchase makes a difference.
