Sedgemoor crematorium offers state-of-the-art funerals

Sedgemoor Crematorium now offers bereaved families the chance to personalise their loved one’s service to unprecedented levels.

The crematorium is one of only five in the UK, or in the world, to offer funeral services which enable the bereaved to make their loved ones’ farewells more uniquely personal than ever before.

Thanks to the new state-of-the-art technology, mourners attending a service can now say farewell to their loved one with a beautifully curated immersive theme, celebrating the life they once lived.

Before entering the chapel, mourners can be greeted by their loved one’s service schedule or image displayed on external welcome screens, setting the tone for the service.

Inside the chapel, projected onto the entire front wall - canvas - and accompanied by harmoniously coordinated soundscapes and lighting, the family arranging the funeral can choose from 18 inclusive themes and two personalised themes.

Inclusive themes, available at no additional cost, offer options such as lavender, country park, seasons, waterfall, nebula or Glastonbury Tor.

In recognition of football being a lifetime passion for many, personalised themes featuring local or national clubs take the canvas to the next level. Here, the canvas becomes the football team’s stadium and also displays the club’s logo.

The loved one’s name then dynamically moves across the stadium, accompanied by harmonious lighting. If desired, even the club’s anthem can be played during the service.

Sedgeemoor Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, and which is trusted by more families than any other provider to deliver funerals for their loved ones.

All Westerleigh's locations are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect, while benefitting from exceptional care and support from its teams.

Last November, the world’s first experiential funeral venue was unveiled at the group’s crematorium in Gedling, Nottinghamshire.

It quickly proved to be very popular so now, Westerleigh Group wants to make the experience available to families in other parts of the county.

The innovative experience is the result of a partnership between Westerleigh Group and the UK’s leading audio-visual provider to the bereavement industry, Obitus.

Sedgmoor Crematorium Manager Laura Williams said: “We’re proud to be one of the first crematoria in the world to offer our local communities an opportunity to curate a unique canvas theme for their loved one’s servce.

“Since it was introduced at Gedling Crematorium, we know that 99% of families who have held funeral there have chosen to have a canvas wall, or elements of it, included within their services.

“The feedback Gedling Crematorium has received has been very positive, with those who have seen it saying that it added a truly personal touch to the funeral.

“Whether it’s a waterfall or a seasonal background, or even a football stadium, there is a wide range of themes and choices available, with many options to tailor the displays to be specifically relevant to the person being honoured.

“The technology offers the chance to make funerals even more uniquely personal and meaningful than ever.”
