Designer Outlet Swindon sparks curiosity with free family fun this February half term
Designer Outlet Swindon is set to entertain curious kids and their grown-ups this February half term with a packed programme of free, drop-in activities, running from Friday 14th to Saturday 21st February as part of the Festival of Tomorrow.
Designed to spark imagination and hands-on discovery, the programme brings together science, creativity and play through a mix of interactive trails, exhibitions and workshops suitable for a wide range of ages.
Running throughout the week (14th – 21st February), families can take on the Super Senses Self-Guided Trail, an interactive way to explore the centre while learning about the remarkable abilities of animals. From super-powered hearing to extraordinary vision, the trail encourages families to discover together at their own pace, with free trail sheets available from Guest Services (opposite the North Entrance).
Also taking place across the week, Unfit For Vision invites families to step into a pop-up exhibition explore light beyond human sight. Using infrared and ultraviolet imaging inspired by real scientific tools, children can uncover hidden details – from distant planets to heat and movement – encouraging curiosity about the world we can’t always see.
From 14th – 19th February, families can experience Pulse, an interactive installation that turns movement and touch into sound. By responding to simple gestures, children are encouraged to experiment and collaborate, discovering how the body itself can become a creative instrument.
On Saturday 14th – Monday 16th February younger visitors can dive into The Sound Garden & Musical Spaceship Make and Play Workshop. Featuring colourful instruments made from recycled materials and a playful space-themed story, families are invited to make music together before blasting off on a sound-filled adventure with Captain Bongo and the Orchestra of Objects.
Later in the week (18th – 19th February), budding engineers can get stuck into the Incredible Ocean Engineering Lab. Led by Incredible Oceans CIC, this lively drop-in experience invites families to build and test boats, launch balloon hovercrafts and experiment with forces. Older children and teens can also try more advanced challenges, including testing wind turbines and generating electricity.
Alongside the Festival of Tomorrow activities, families can enjoy Designer Outlet Swindon’s wide range of brands, restaurants and cafés, including Marks & Spencer, NEXT, Nike, Crocs and Haribo, making it the perfect destination for a fun and affordable family day out.
Charlotte King, Marketing Manager at Designer Outlet Swindon, said: “We’re delighted to welcome families to Designer Outlet Swindon this February half term with a fantastic programme of free Festival of Tomorrow activities.
