St Peter's Hospice launches new event with extreme 24 Peaks Challenge

Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice has launched an all-new fundraising event aimed at adrenaline-seekers and nature-lovers alike.

The brand new 24 Peaks Challenge is being billed as the ultimate test of endurance, as a group of participants take on an epic two-day trek through the rugged beauty of the Lake District to raise money for Bristol’s only adult Hospice.

The event will take place on 5-8 June 2026 and will see fundraisers tackle 24 of the region’s biggest peaks in just 24 hours of trekking. In this extreme walking challenge, they will cover 28 gruelling miles and 12,500ft of ascent.

Caitlin Logan, Events Fundraising Manager for St Peter’s Hospice, said: “This is a once-in a lifetime adventure for anyone wanting a new and exciting challenge. If you think the Three Peaks Challenge is tough, try adding another 21 to really push your limits!

“There will be breathtaking views and 28 miles of leg-burning terrain. Participants will summit Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain, and 23 more of the most iconic peaks in the Lakes, all while giving back to a much-loved local charity.

“We have capacity for 39 people to take part in this event, so whether you sign up alone or with a group of friends, you will be part of a team of adventurers taking on the challenge together, for the common goal of supporting the Hospice. You will also be supported by staff from Global Adventure who will ensure you get the most out of the experience.”

Each participant will be asked to raise £1,200 in sponsorship (plus a £95 registration fee) to support the charity’s vital work caring for people with life-limiting illnesses in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

Registration is now open, and the charity is urging supporters to sign up early. The majority of places will need to be filled by February 2026 to allow plenty of time for training and fundraising.

Caitlin continued: “This challenge is definitely not a walk in the park, it will be physically demanding but ultimately so fun and rewarding!

“Every step up those mountains supports local families during the toughest times of their lives. Your determination will mean families don’t have to face their journey alone.”

St Peter’s Hospice is Bristol’s only adult Hospice providing inpatient care as well as community care to those with life-limiting illnesses. It costs £30,000 to run the Hospice every day and the charity relies on money raised through fundraising, its shops and Gifts in Wills to continue its work.
