Kim Donaldson appointed General Manager at BCRM
Kim Donaldson has been appointed as General Manager for Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine (BCRM) following the acquisition of the clinic by FutureLife Group, a European provider of IVF, fertility treatments, and associated genetic services last year.
Kim brings to the role over 30 years of experience in both the NHS and independent healthcare sectors, with a deep-rooted expertise in women’s health.
Yvonne Hignell, vice-president of operations for FutureLife, said: “Kim’s unique career experience, which has blended clinical science with operational leadership, make her exceptionally well-suited to lead BCRM into its next chapter.
“As general manager, she will be responsible for leading BCRM’s operations in Bristol, ensuring excellence in service delivery, patient experience, and business performance.
“Her leadership will be key in driving operational growth, team development, and regulatory compliance within the evolving UK healthcare landscape.
“With her wealth of experience and deep commitment to excellence in reproductive medicine, I have every confidence that Kim will continue to strengthen BCRM’s position as a leader in fertility care.”
Kim Donaldson began her career as a registered Clinical Scientist at the Bristol Genetics Laboratory, where she specialised in prenatal diagnosis and pregnancy loss, an area that ignited her lifelong passion for reproductive medicine.
In 2010, Kim transitioned into healthcare leadership at North Bristol NHS Trust, where she progressed to Divisional General Manager within Women and Children’s Health, after completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership.
She joined BCRM’s senior leadership team in 2015 and has been instrumental in shaping the organisation’s strategy and operations.
Her academic background includes a BSc in Applied Biological Sciences from the University of the West of England, alongside the Royal College of Pathologists Diploma in Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics.
BCRM was originally established over 40 years ago as a joint research project between the University of Bristol and Southmead Hospital, transitioning to an independent clinic in 2018.
The team now operates from a state-of-the-art facility in Bristol’s Aztec West, offering IVF, ICSI, IUI, egg freezing, donor sperm and other treatments and consistently has the best IVF success rates in the south west of England and Wales, meaning the clinic ranks as one of the top fertility clinics in the UK.
It also has satellite clinics, both wholly owned and as strategic partners, in Bristol Spire, Bath, Cardiff, Swindon and Jersey. As a part of FutureLife Group, BCRM now has access to strategic resources and expertise within a leading international network.
