Bristol's biggest charity bike ride returns for 2026

Keen cyclists will be pleased to hear that Bristol’s biggest charity bike ride, Tour de Bristol, is back with a new date set for Saturday 18 April 2026.

The popular annual event, now in its 12th year, raises money for Bristol charity St Peter’s Hospice and challenges riders to complete either a 40,65 or 100km route.

Last year’s Tour de Bristol raised an incredible £140,000 and saw over 1,000 cyclists pedalling with purpose for the city’s only adult Hospice.

The routes are designed to suit all abilities and all start from the UWE Centre for Sport before heading into the stunning South Gloucestershire countryside. Participants take on the cycle in memory of a loved one, as a personal challenge or just for fun.

And there’s also the option of a virtual challenge for those unable to make the event date. Here participants can choose a distance and date to suit, while still raising money for a much-loved local cause.

With feed stations along the picturesque route, as well as chip timing and a medal at the finish line, the event is set to be an exciting day of pedaling for patient care.

Molly O’Donoghue, Fundraising Events Manager at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “It is so exciting to be launching the 12th annual Tour de Bristol. Every year it gets bigger and better and we’re now looking at over 1000 riders raising an amount for our Hospice that really makes a difference to our patients.

“In 2025 we attracted over 1,300 riders and across its history, more than 10,500 cyclists have taken part, together generating over £1.28 million for patient care and support.

“As one of our flagship events, we have worked hard to make it the best it can be. This year we'll be adding more entertainment at the event village, expanding the merchandise available and we also hope to enlist volunteer physiotherapists to offer sports massages.”

Funds raised go towards supporting patients and their loved ones in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Providing inpatient care as well as community care to those with life-limiting illnesses, St Peter’s Hospice aims to help patients live well through every stage of their end-of-life journey. It costs £30,000 to run the Hospice every day and the charity relies on money raised through fundraising events like the Tour de Bristol, as well as its retail shops and Gifts in Wills.

The Tour de Bristol will take place on Saturday 18 April 7am-5pm, starting at UWE in Stoke Gifford. Early Bird tickets can be purchased until January and start from £30.
