Yorkshire-based waste management provider, Universal Tankers, opened a new operational depot in Avonmouth, Bristol, on 20th April 2026.
The facility marks the company’s first presence in parts of Southern Wales and represents a significant step in its ambition to double revenue within the next three to five years.
The Avonmouth depot will increase Universal Tankers’ operational capacity across the South West and extend the company’s service reach into previously underserved markets. The strategic location will enable faster response times, improved logistical efficiency and a strengthened ability to meet the evolving needs of its regional customer base.
“This new depot is a defining moment for Universal Tankers. Avonmouth gives us a platform to serve businesses across the South West and into southern Wales for the first time, while strengthening the consistency and quality of service we offer our established customers. It is a clear signal of our growth ambitions and our confidence in the region.”
— Craig Pennington, Head of Transport, Universal Tankers
Beyond its commercial impact, the new depot is expected to bring tangible benefits to the Avonmouth area. Universal Tankers will recruit staff locally, creating employment opportunities and supporting the regional economy. The company’s approach reflects its broader commitment to being a responsible, community-focused employer, investing in local talent and offering long-term career prospects for people in the area.
The Avonmouth opening forms part of an ambitious wider expansion programme that positions Universal Tankers among the most proactive logistics operators in the UK. With a clear strategy focused on geographic reach, operational excellence and customer service, the company is laying the foundations for sustained growth across new and existing markets.
