St Peter's Hospice encourages Bristol to choose second-hand this sustainable September
St Peter’s Hospice is encouraging people across Bristol to make second-hand their first choice this September, helping to reduce fashion waste and give clothes a longer life.
As part of its Sustainable September campaign, St Peter’s Hospice is inviting local shoppers to rethink the way they shop, wear and enjoy fashion and to choose preloved over new wherever possible.
Keeping clothes in use for longer is one of the simplest ways to support a more sustainable future. Through a programme of creative events, pop-up shops and in-store activities, St Peter’s Hospice is helping people discover practical ways to make their wardrobes more sustainable, from styling and repairs to upcycling and rewearing.
The hospice is also proud to be part of Sustainable Fashion Week this September, joining a wider movement encouraging communities to explore how fashion can be enjoyed without contributing to unnecessary waste.
John Broomhead, Retail Director at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “Choosing second-hand doesn’t mean compromising on style. Our shops are full of unique finds, quality pieces and brilliant bargains, and every purchase has a positive impact twice over - helping to keep clothing in use for longer while raising vital funds for St Peter’s Hospice.
“This Sustainable September, we want to encourage people to pause before buying new and consider whether they could find what they’re looking for second-hand, rewear something they already own, or give an old favourite a new lease of life.”
