Newquay set to be overun by zombies, monsters and ghouls

There are less than two weeks to go until the streets of Newquay are overrun by marauding monsters, ghostly ghouls, zany zombies and wicked witches as Spooky Newquay returns for another huge week of Halloween fun!

The highlight of the week, the legendary Newquay Zombie Crawl, takes place on Saturday 24 October, bringing thousands of families, visitors, performers and community groups together for what has become one of the biggest free Halloween events for families in the South West.

And the spooky fun starts early, with activities taking place around the town from 10.30am.

🧟 THE ZOMBIE CRAWL – SATURDAY 24 OCTOBER

The main Zombie Crawl begins at 3pm from Oakleigh Terrace, near Asda and Newquay railway station, before making its way through the town centre and finishing at Sainsbury’s.

Families and community groups will come together to crawl, dance and shuffle their way through Newquay, while crowds of spectators line the streets to watch the spectacular procession pass by.

Leading the spooky soundtrack will be Radio Newquay, alongside the incredible Newquay Samba Band, who will be playing on Cliff Road before joining the parade itself.

And that's just the beginning.

Expect giant monster heads, stilt walkers, dancers, street theatre, actors, circus performers, fire performers and thousands of zombies as the town transforms into one giant Halloween celebration.

There will be workshops, street theatre , dance groups and circus groups helping everyone get ready for the Crawl.

🤖 TITAN THE ROBOT IS COMING!

Before the Zombie Crawl gets underway, Titan the Robot will be making a spectacular appearance at 2pm at Killacourt, putting on a show that is guaranteed to get the crowds excited.

The Cornwall Rock Choir will also be making pop-up performances around the town throughout the day. We’re delighted to welcome them to the Zombie Crawl for the first time this year.

🎃 SPOOKY FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

The Zombie Crawl is just the centrepiece of Spooky Newquay, with local businesses, community groups and organisations getting involved throughout the entire half-term week.

Following the crawl on Saturday, businesses will be hosting their own spooky activities, from family discos and silent scary discos to fancy-dress events and Halloween-themed activities.

Later in the evening, the spookiness takes a slightly more grown-up turn, with plenty happening for adults too.

Throughout Spooky Newquay week, businesses across the town will also be getting into the spirit with dressed-up windows, spooky teams, special offers, events and activities.

There really is something for everyone.

❤️ A TRUE COMMUNITY EVENT

Spooky Newquay is a Newquay BID event supported by Newquay Town Council, with huge support from community organisations and volunteers.

The Newquay Lions, Blystra Lions, Newquay Veterans  and other volunteers will all be supporting the event with the road closures and safety arrangements, helping make sure everyone can enjoy the day safely.

The event simply could not happen without the incredible contribution from the businesses,  community groups, performers, creatives and volunteers who come together to make the Zombie Crawl such a spectacular occasion.

From dancers and actors to samba musicians, stilt walkers, circus performers, fire artists and creative workshops, it really is a celebration of what the Newquay community can achieve together.

👻 ONE OF THE BIGGEST FREE HALLOWEEN EVENTS IN THE SOUTH WEST

The Zombie Crawl has grown year on year and is now believed to be one of the biggest free family Halloween events in the South West.

Organisers believe the Zombie Crawl is also one of the biggest events of its kind in the UK — and they're determined to make it bigger, better and even more spectacular every year.

Mark, from Newquay BID, said:

“The Zombie Crawl is such a fantastic celebration of our community. It brings together families, local businesses, performers, creative groups, volunteers and visitors and turns the whole town into one huge Halloween celebration.

“It’s completely free, it’s fun, it’s a little bit bonkers, and it gets bigger every year. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who gets involved and makes it happen.

“This year we’ve got so much going on, from Titan the Robot and the Cornwall Rock Choir to the Samba Band, stilt walkers, street theatre, workshops and, of course, thousands of zombies.

“We can’t wait to see Newquay overrun with spookiness on 24 October. Be here… or be scared!”

KEEP YOUR LITTLE MONSTERS CLOSE!

With Spooky Newquay growing bigger every year, organisers are reminding families that the town will be very busy on the day. While there will be plenty of support in place to help everyone enjoy the event safely, parents and carers are asked to keep children close and keep an eye on their families throughout the day.

There will be marshals out and about across the event, alongside rangers in the town providing additional support and safeguarding for families.

Newquay Library will also act as a central point for any children who become separated from their families, with the library team supporting the event and helping reunite lost children with their parents or carers.

With thousands of people expected to enjoy the Zombie Crawl and the wider Spooky Newquay programme, a little extra vigilance from everyone will help make sure the day stays safe, happy and full of spooky fun.

So, keep your little monsters close, keep an eye on your witches, wizards and zombies — and most importantly, have fun!

Spooky Newquay is all about bringing families, locals and visitors together for one fantastic, free day of Halloween fun, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to town
