Wellington Nursing Home Wins National Gold Standard Palliative Care Award

Camelot House and Lodge nursing home in Wellington, Somerset, has been awarded a prestigious 'Platinum' Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for the fifth time in recognition of the excellent end-of-life care it provides.

The home, part of the Camelot Care group, received the accolade at the GSF’s annual awards ceremony in Birmingham, celebrating the UK’s most outstanding palliative health and social care providers.

“This fifth successive accreditation by GSF is proof of the long-term dedication of all our staff at Camelot House and Lodge,” said Camelot Care director Paul Teasdale.

“It gives residents’ families reassurance that our team consistently delivers the highest quality palliative and end-of-life care. Huge congratulations to our home manager, Zillah Oakes, and her team – we are incredibly proud of them.

“Their compassion and professionalism ensure residents are supported to live with dignity, and families can be confident their loved ones are in the very best hands.”

The nursing home was praised for its community links, strong staffing levels, and regular training with local hospices and care providers.

“We are delighted to congratulate all the organisations that have achieved accreditation and received the Quality Hallmark Award this year,” said Julie Armstrong-Wilson, chief operating officer for GSF.

“The quality of care and the compassionate cultures we have seen are truly inspiring, reflecting a deep commitment to ensuring people receive the right care at the right time, making a real difference to them and their families.

“Our award winners are leading the way in demonstrating what good end-of-life care looks like.”

The service is one of four specialist dementia care homes run by Camelot Care in Somerset and Devon, with a fifth set to open soon in Holsworthy, Devon.
