Updated Eligibility Criteria for Bright Green Homes: Gas-Heated Houses Now Eligible
Bristol City Leap has announced an update to the eligibility criteria for the Bright Green Homes project.
Homes equipped with gas heating, including those with gas boilers, can now apply for grant funding aimed at improving energy efficiency and advancing low-carbon solutions that foster warmer and healthier living spaces.
Bright Green Homes is a collaborative initiative involving Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, and Bath & Northeast Somerset Council. The aim is to support households throughout the South West in implementing essential energy-saving upgrades.
The project empowers homeowners to reduce their energy costs while creating more comfortable and sustainable environments, thereby contributing to cleaner air for everyone.
Councillor Martin Fodor, Chair of the Environment & Sustainability Committee, said: “We are delighted to expand the Bright Green Homes initiative to include gas-heated houses. This marks a significant step forward in our commitment to improving energy efficiency and keeping people warm across our communities.
“This updated eligibility condition allows more households to access essential funding that will not only enhance their living conditions and reduce bills but also contribute to our city’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Together, we can create a healthier and more sustainable Bristol.”
Mark Apsey MBE, Senior Vice President at Ameresco, added, “This update to the Bright Green Homes programme will provide even more homeowners the opportunity to make impactful energy-saving upgrades. Our professional Bristol based team is standing by to help applicants make the most of this free offer to improve their homes, having already delivered for over 370 households in the region. We encourage all eligible households to take advantage of this unique chance to create a better future, enhancing both comfort and sustainability in their homes.”
Grant funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to high demand, applicants may face delays in funding distribution until the second year of the project. Bristol City Leap strongly encourage interested households to act promptly to seize this limited opportunity.
