St Peter's Hospice staff raise thousands at Great Bristol Run
A team of staff from local charity St Peter’s Hospice took on the Great Bristol Run this weekend and raised thousands for the organisation so close to their hearts.
The group of 13 runners from Bristol’s only adult hospice raised an impressive £4,471 for the cause.
They joined thousands of others to complete the scenic 10k challenge around the streets of Bristol. The event also has a half marathon option for more seasoned runners.
Made up of staff from the fundraising, marketing and clinical teams, the group battled the heat to complete the course.
St Peter’s Hospice Legacy Manager, Matt Crother, said: "The money that we and other runners raise for the Hospice means that our Nurses can continue to support people in their homes and at our Inpatient Unit. There's something special about running in our home city to raise money for the local community!"
St Peter’s Hospice cares for patients with incurable conditions in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
It costs around £30,000 per day for St Peter’s Hospice to provide care at the Hospice in Brentry and out in the community. The charity also supports family members, loved ones and carers, offering bereavement therapy and supportive drop-in sessions.
