Santa lights up Bridgwater nursing home

Residents at Avalon Nursing Home in Bridgwater were delighted to witness a very twinkly sleigh with Santa Claus on board pulling into their car park - complete with smoke, lights and music - courtesy of Vagabonds Carnival Club.

Vagabonds is a long-standing club is made up of a dedicated group of volunteers who pour immense effort into creating dazzling parade floats for the Somerset Carnivals, and also spread happiness locally with visits to a range of locations over the festive period.

Lisa Priddice who leads the activities team at Avalon said: “There was such an excited atmosphere with residents, staff and friends all outside awaiting Santa’s arrival.

“We wrapped up warm, but fortunately the weather was on our side.

“Santa came down from the sleigh to greet our ladies and gents and wish them all a merry Christmas.

“To their absolute delight, he then came indoors and walked around shaking hands and generally spreading Christmas cheer.

“Residents and staff all enjoyed themselves a lot - not least the chocolates, mince pies and hot drinks we shared.

“Special thanks to Vagabonds’ chair Dave Redwood, and members Carla Hooper and Amy Parsons for making the visit possible.”

Avalon Nursing Home is run by award-winning dementia care provider Camelot Care, who also runs homes in Wellington and Yeovil in Somerset, and Holsworthy and Plymouth in Devon.
