Flowers by Alla hosts first event workshop
A recently opened Totterdown flower boutique has held its first ever event with a sold-out flower arranging workshop in its newly developed event space.
Flowers by Alla, which first opened its doors on Wells Road in January, hosted the event for the local community and drew a full house of flower enthusiasts eager to learn the art of floral design.
Attendees were guided by owner Alla Orekhovska, who shared expert tips on creating beautiful, balanced arrangements using seasonal blooms. The hands-on session included refreshments as participants crafted their own take-home bouquets and the event marked a major milestone for the independent florist.
Alla said: “It was a lovely evening filled with creativity, colour, and community. We were thrilled by the response and the enthusiasm everyone brought to the workshop. It really reinforced the idea that people want more ways to connect with flowers, and with each other.
“When we first opened the shop the back section was almost dead space while we decided what to do with it. Now it is filled with an array of beautiful outdoor plants to buy and we also decided to create a workshop space.
“This space is perfect for hosting showcases, classes, hen parties, corporate events and more. It was so exciting to see how an event would work in reality and all the feedback we received was really positive. I can’t wait to launch a series of events now.”
Alla, who arrived in the UK three years ago after fleeing the war in her native Ukraine, also stocks quality homeware such as vases, and small gifts and trinkets, setting it apart from other floristries in Bristol.
Following the overwhelming success of the event, Flowers by Alla has announced plans for a series of future workshops, including sessions focused on hand-tied bouquets, table centrepieces, and seasonal wreaths.
The success of the first event is not the only achievement Alla has made in the last five months. She has also taken on her first new member of staff to help with the volume of orders coming in.
She said: “The way the shop has thrived since we opened in January is beyond my wildest dreams. We had sell-out order books for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day and now to take on a new team member to help me is incredible.
“It has always been my dream to own my own floristry so I’m delighted with the first few months of the business.”
