Bristol's St Peter's Hospice wins prestigious national retail award
Peter’s Hospice has been named ‘Outstanding Charity Retailer’ at the 2025 Charity Retail Association Awards.
The awards celebrate excellence in charity retail and highlights organisations that go above and beyond in delivering value to their communities. St Peter’s Hospice, which operates more than 40 shops across the Bristol area, was recognised for its creative retail strategies, strong community engagement and sustainable practices.
John Broomhead, Retail Director at St Peter’s Hospice, said: “We are delighted to win the award for Outstanding Charity Retailer of the year. It’s a real honour as a South West charity to win this national accolade, especially as we were shortlisted beside two great retail teams - Royal Trinity Hospice and Blue Cross for Pets.
“This is such an exciting sector to be part of with so many fantastic people and businesses trying to tackle challenging times with creative solutions.
“A huge thanks goes to the whole St Peter’s Hospice team, our amazing volunteers and our external partners. Our goal of raising as much money as possible to support our clinical teams is only possible thanks to the hard work of many people across the organisation.”
As Bristol’s only adult hospice, the charity’s retail income plays a critical role in funding end-of-life care and support services which cost the organisation £30,000 a day to provide free-of-charge to patients.
Robin Osterley, chief executive of the Charity Retail Association, said: “From supporting communities to protecting the planet, charity shops drive positive lasting change. The Charity Retail Awards recognise the impact that exceptional organisations and individuals are making and we were delighted to present the winners with their awards at our annual conference and awards ceremony. Congratulations to all the winners on their well-deserved awards.”
The Charity Retail Association Awards are held annually to honour the achievements of the UK’s charity retail sector, with categories recognising everything from innovation and environmental impact to volunteer contribution.
