Mama Bear's Totterdown nursery gains 'good' Ofsted rating

The Mama Bear’s Day Nursery & Pre-school in Totterdown has gained a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating following its latest inspection which took place in April.

This is the fifth of five ‘Good’ ratings the family-run nursery group has achieved so far this year.

The report has praised The Bush nursery’s new leaders and staff for creating a stimulating environment with a variety of resources, based on children’s needs. It also highlights the continuity of care present at the setting which results in strong bonds between children and staff meaning children settle well and enjoy close, nurturing relationships with caregivers.

All four of the main criteria covered by the inspection gained a ‘Good’ result including the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

The Ofsted inspection comes after new manager Justyna Van Der Laan O’Donnell takes the helm at the setting. She said: “I am delighted with the results of the latest Ofsted inspection at our setting. Myself and the team have worked closely with parents to ensure the setting is meeting its full potential and all children are happy, comfortable and reaching their milestones.

“We’d like to thank the wider Mama Bear’s management team for supporting us in introducing the changes which have been so highly praised by the inspector. This support, encouragement and knowledge is invaluable.

“Following this latest accolade we hope to continue expanding our team with enthusiastic, passionate and talented practitioners to expand our capacity and provide our vital childcare services to more local families.”

Tony Driffield, owner of Mama Bear’s, said: “The Bush team have done exceptionally well at this latest Ofsted inspection and we are proud of the work being done here.

“The nursery itself is a fantastic environment for children with open spaces and exciting outdoor play features. As such, we want to welcome as many local children as possible and recruit more specialised staff to help grow our offering here.

“We are committed to creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment for both staff and children and look forward to the next chapter for Mama Bear’s The Bush.”

The Totterdown nursery can be found between Wells Road and Bath Road, in walking distance to Temple Meads Train Station, and provides high-quality, affordable children for children aged three-months to five years. With designated, age-appropriate rooms and a large outdoor space the setting is fully-resourced to support children’s development and spark their imagination.

Career opportunities at Mama Bear’s range from apprenticeships to early years educators and the company prides itself on its career progression opportunities and training programme.
