New homebuilder goes above and beyond

A Chippenham resident who is registered blind has praised Redcliffe Homes for “going above and beyond” to support him and his wife Sara, who had life-limiting medical conditions, when they were buying their new home.

Sara and Toby Davey relocated to Chippenham in 2018 from a shared-ownership flat in London because Sara had to retire due to her medical conditions getting worse, initially renting a property after finally selling their London flat which gave them a healthy deposit to buy their own home in the town.

By 2020, with employment issues settled, they were in a position to purchase and came across Redcliffe Homes’ Rowden Brook, part of Chippenham’s new Rowden Park development.

Toby said: “We immediately thought what a lovely place it would be to live – a really attractive development.

“We were hoping to find a two-bedroom home that would suit our needs and decided that the Lechlade fitted the bill very well.

“Redcliffe’s sales advisor, Heather, was so incredibly helpful from the word ‘go’ and gave us all the support we could have needed in making our reservation and deciding on fixtures, fittings and floor coverings.

“Because I am registered blind and with Sara’s underlying medical conditions, we had some specific requirements that we wanted Redcliffe to meet and they couldn’t have been more helpful.

“For example, Sara was on oxygen 24/7 we weren’t able to have a gas hob, nor could we have an induction hob because Sara also had a pacemaker.

“So we found a ceramic hob that suited our needs that the team sourced and installed for us, which we really appreciated.

“On the day we moved in, Tim the assistant site manager came to visit us personally to explain the workings of the house.

“Everyone was just incredibly helpful and supportive. The few inevitable bits of snagging were dealt with promptly, and when we were out and about on the site with my guide dog every team member we came across was really friendly and nice.

“To my great sorrow Sara’s underlying medical conditions worsened, and in December she sadly passed away.

“But I have been touched to discover the support of Redcliffe Homes is still available to me. For example, Heather the sales advisor has helped me with some of the forms I needed to complete for the house after Sara’s death and was struggling with due to my visual impairment.

“Finding that such help was available and willingly given has made the aftermath of losing my lovely Sara just a little bit easier for me, so I’d like to thank the Redcliffe Homes teams very much for this.

“Sara and I greatly enjoyed living in our new home for the short time we shared it - we loved the lay-out and found it to be well-built, roomy and easy to navigate.

“And discovering that we had purchased our new home not just from excellent housebuilders but from a firm with a heart was a much-appreciated bonus that made a genuine difference to our lives.”

Mandy Parker, sales and marketing manager at Redcliffe Homes said: “It was our pleasure to work with Sara and Toby to ensure their new home perfectly suited their particular needs.

“We were really sad to learn of Sara’s passing, and it has been our privilege to be able to continue to support Toby at this difficult time in his life.”
